Crime Report

Thursday, May 28:
Downey officers conducted foot patrols in the area of 12800 block of Woodruff and the area of the San Gabriel River and the 105 Freeway.  Officers located nine subjects and all were cited for trespassing.    

During the evening, officers provided extra patrol to our parks and issued four people citations for being in the park after 10 p.m. (closing hours).      

Friday, May 29:

At 6 p.m., a Downey police officer was on routine patrol when he attempted to stop a man riding a bicycle for a traffic violation.  As the officers attempted to make contact, the bicyclist fled.  When the officer caught up to the suspect, he discovered the bicyclist was in possession of methamphetamine.  The suspect was arrested and booked for possession of narcotics.   

At 11:30 p.m., officers responded to the 8700 block of Rosecrans regarding an assault investigation.  Responding officers spoke with the victim who reported he was escorting unruly subjects from a party when he was hit on the back of his head with an unknown type metal object. The suspect(s) fled the area after the assault. The victim was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. Detectives are investigating.       
 

Saturday, May 30:  

At 9 a.m., Downey officers arrested a man driving a car stolen car in the 9500 block of Firestone.  The car had been reported stolen in the city of Whittier.  The driver, a 20-year-old man from Los Angeles, was booked for grand theft auto.  

At 4 p.m., Downey officers responded to an apartment in the 10300 block of Paramount regarding a suicidal man armed with a knife. The man fled the home before officers arrived, but was located nearby. He was taken into protective custody and transported to a local hospital for an evaluation.   
 

Sunday, May 31:  

At 3 a.m., officers arrested a man for drunk driving and hit & run after he collided into a parked car in the area of Rives & Yankee.  Responding officers located the man as he walked away from the scene and arrested him.    

At 7:30 p.m., a man entered the Dollar Tree (10227 Lakewood), brandished a knife, and then attempted to rob the cash register. The suspect fled without any loss after the clerk was unable to open the register. Detectives are investigating.
