Crime Report: 11/26/18
Friday, November 16:
At 12:35 pm, officers responded to the Stonewood Mall regarding a robbery. Three male juveniles that were truant from Los Angeles assaulted another male juvenile at the Stonewood Mall and took his sunglasses. The suspects were arrested and booked for investigation of robbery. Detectives are investigating.
At 10 pm, officers responded to 10990 Downey Ave., regarding an attempted robbery. The victim left his vehicle unlocked and running while he went to the ATM. A female suspect was acting as a look out while another male suspect entered the vehicle. The victim confronted the suspect who then brandished a knife. Both suspects fled the scene on foot. The suspects were located and arrested and booked for attempt robbery.
Saturday, November 17:
At 11:35 am, officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in the area of Lakewood and Apollo Way and it sped off. A pursuit ensued and was canceled after a short distance, when the suspect’s driving became reckless. CHP later located the vehicle out of our City and a pursuit ensued. It later crashed and CHP arrested the suspect.
At 9 pm, officers responded to Bar Louie at 8860 Apollo Way in regards to an attempt carjacking. A male victim from Long Beach was sitting in his vehicle when two male suspects approached the front passenger side and pointed a handgun at him. The victim reversed his vehicle, striking one of the suspects, and fled the area. Later, the same suspect who was struck by the vehicle attempted to carjack another vehicle. The suspect was unsuccessful and the victim drove away. Officers checked the area and located one of the suspects. An air-soft revolver handgun was located in the bushes where the suspect was apprehended. The suspect was arrested and booked for attempt carjacking.
Between 10:30 pm and 3 am, officers patrolled the downtown area. They cited seven (7) vehicles for traffic violations, issued four (4) municipal code citations, and issued one (1) parking citation.
Sunday, November 18:
At 11:15 am, officers located a stolen vehicle at the Arco station located at Downey and Stewart & Gray. The male suspect driver was taken into custody without incident. The passenger, a male juvenile from Los Angeles, was transported to the station and cited for possession of marijuana and a vape pen. The suspect was booked for grand theft auto.
At 10:40 pm, officers located the unoccupied stolen vehicle at 9001 Apollo Way (Walmart). Officers observed 3 subjects (2 males and 1 female) exit Walmart with televisions and run toward the vehicle. As officers attempted to stop the subjects, the two males ran on foot and the female left in the vehicle. A brief pursuit occurred until the female crashed the vehicle and was arrested. The two males were taken into custody as they attempted to flee the area on foot. It was determined the suspects had stolen the televisions from Walmart.
