SEAACA officials are expected to address the City Council soon regarding a recent surge in reported coyote sightings in Downey. Councilman Fernando Vasquez says he was told by SEAACA that the animal agency generally does not trap coyotes, since they cannot be relocated and would have to be euthanized.

Instead, residents are urged to keep their small pets indoors and eliminate potential food sources.
