Dear Editor: Assistance League would like to thank the community of Downey for supporting our recent fundraising brunch.

We would like to mention the generosity of the following Downey establishments: Bastards, BJ’s, Carino’s, Elephant Bar, Embassy Suites, Hackers, Joseph’s Bar and Grill, Marketplace Grill, Mambo Grill, Mimi’s Cafe, Olive Garden, Cafe Opa and Porto’s Bakery.

This support, along with the patronizing and donating to the Second Tyme Around Shop on Downey Avenue, will enable us to continue serving those in need.

Our programs include Operation School Bell, housing of medical emergencies at Rancho Los Amigos hospital, scholarships, free dental care and other services to the community.
