DOWNEY — To help stop the spread of COVID-19, the city of Downey has postponed all of its public events through the end of March.

The postponements impact previously-scheduled productions at the Downey Theatre, including a “Beauty and the Beast” sing-along and multiple dance competitions.

Grand-reopening celebrations at Golden and Discovery parks will be rescheduled, and the Keep Downey Beautiful clean-up set for March 21 will not take place.

“City staff will work closely with those agencies affected by this decision to reschedule events for future dates,” the city said in a statement.
