DOWNEY -- A patriotic service honoring veterans will be held tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10511 Paramount Blvd., in Downey.Representatives from local political officials and the various branches of service will make presentations. Elvin Galindo, mayor of Bell Gardens, will be the featured speaker. Galindo is a former Marine and longtime member of the Air National Guard. He is currently employed as a transportation investigator for the city of Los Angeles, in addition to his duties as bishop of the Spanish-speaking Bell Gardens Ward of the Church.
