Charlotte Marie Fiola

Charlotte Marie Fiola passed away peacefully from natural causes Friday morning, May 15, 2015. She was 99 years 7 months old and died in her home in La Habra Heights. Born in South Dakota on the family farm in 1915, she graduated from high school and earned a teaching credential from Great Falls Normal College. She taught school for twelve years, worked in Washington DC for the Department of War during World War II then as a dental assistant in California before marrying Napoleon Eugene Fiola in 1949.

They raised their five children in Downey and were actively involved in the Boy Scouts, St. Raymond’s Church and community sports. Mr. Fiola had a successful material handling company which enabled them to travel globally in their later years. Charlotte lost her husband in 1983 and her oldest son in 1988.

Throughout her remaining decades, Charlotte was active in local politics and thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren. She moved to La Habra Heights in 2010 where she lived the rest of her life.

She is survived by two sisters, Ramona Clements and Dorothy Kellar, four of her five children, twelve of her thirteen grandchildren, and her first great grandchild born in this, her centennial year.

Rosary at Hillside Chapel, Rose Hills Memorial Park 3888 Workman Mill Rd. at 7pm on Thursday, May 21. Celebration of Life mass to be celebrated at St. Bruno Catholic Church 15740 Citrustree Rd., Whittier, CA. on Friday, May 22 at 10am. Interment at Rose Hills to follow the service.
