Cerritos Center celebrates Aretha Franklin with electrifying tribute performance
CERRITOS – Fans of the Queen of Soul are in for a treat as the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) hosts” R.E.S.P.E.C.T. – A Celebration of the Music of Aretha Franklin” on Friday, Feb. 21, at 8 pm.
This stirring tribute to the legendary Aretha Franklin features a live band and vocalists performing her greatest hits. Tickets for the event start at $54.
Described by Broadway World as “a tribute fit for a queen,” the performance takes audiences on a powerful journey through Franklin’s extraordinary life and career, which redefined music and culture. Songs like Natural Woman, Freeway of Love, Chain of Fools, and her timeless anthem RESPECT are among the highlights of the evening.
Franklin’s seven-decade career spanned genres from gospel and soul to pop, jazz, and opera, earning her 18 Grammys, including “Best Female R&B Vocal Performance” and the “Lifetime Achievement Award.” She was the first female artist inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and was honored with the National Medal of Arts and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Directed by Dean Elliott, known for his work on The Simon & Garfunkel Story and Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, R.E.S.P.E.C.T. pays homage to Franklin’s enduring legacy as “the greatest singer of all time,” a title Rolling Stone awarded her twice.
