DOWNEY - Downey residents can receive up to 32 gallons of free mulch for gardening April 14 in front of the Discovery Sports Complex.The mulch is provided by CalMet, the city's waste hauler. Residents must bring their own containers. Cars should enter from Bellflower Boulevard at Congressman Steve Horn Way. The distribution begins at 9 a.m. and will end when the supply of mulch is exhausted, or noon, whichever comes first. For more information, call CalMet at (562) 259-1239, ext. 7.
