April 2, 1956 - August 21, 2017

Brian Smith lifetime Downey resident passed away at home on August 21st at the age of 61 years old on the day of the total solar eclipse. He always knew how to make a grand entrance or exit. Brian graduated from Downey High School and attended Rio Hondo College. He volunteered tirelessly for the Downey Junior Athletic Association for many years as a coach and mentor and later running the snack bar. Brian worked at Power Drives and Chains for over 36 years eventually becoming the president of the company. If you knew Brian then you knew there was never a story he met that he didn’t like to tell. Brian was a husband, father, uncle, brother, and son and will be greatly missed by all of us.
