DOWNEY – The Downey City Library’s book club, “Booked for Lunch,” will meet at the library next Thursday, Jan. 8, from 12-1 p.m. to discuss “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” by Maria Semple. The novel is a satirical look at modern family and cultural values.

The reader follows the events that led to the disappearance of genius-turned-agoraphobic, Bernadette Fox, through emails, reports, and memos as obtained by her daughter. The book was on the Los Angeles Times Bestsellers List for 29 weeks.
