DOWNEY — A male bicyclist was killed when he was struck by a vehicle whose driver failed to stop, authorities said Monday.

The crash occurred about 10:40 p.m. on Telegraph Road around Pico Vista Road, Downey police Sgt. T. McCarthy told City News Service.

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, McCarthy said.

Telegraph Road was shut down between Pico Vista Road and the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway for the investigation, he said.

News video from the scene showed the bicyclist's body under a yellow tarp as officers investigated the crash in steady rain.

Weather may have been a factor in the crash, McCarthy said.
