DOWNEY – The Assistance League of Downey, along with their teenage counterparts the Assisteens, recently put together a sizeable donation of hand-knit blankets and carefully prepared hygiene kits to be distributed to patients at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center.

The donation was hand-delivered to Rancho, and accompanying the ladies of the Assistance League and Assisteens was Downey Mayor Pro Tem Rick Rodriguez.

Located in Downey, Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center is a public center that provides comprehensive rehabilitation services to individuals of all ages with physical disabilities due to catastrophic injuries or illnesses (such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury etc.).

Rancho treats some of the most complex cases in this country, seeing nearly 4,000 inpatients and 71,000 outpatient visits annually.

Rancho’s clinical team is one of the finest of any rehabilitation hospitals in the world and has set the standard for patient care for the past six decades.

Its doctors, therapists and nurses work together in treatment teams to provide the very best care for our patients. By collaborating with major universities throughout the nation, our clinicians continue to revolutionize the practice of rehabilitation medicine through vital research projects.

The donations received from the Assistance League of Downey will go to deserving patients at Rancho, who will appreciate enjoying some of the comforts of home while they are receiving care at the facility.

“Thanks to the wonderful community partners that we have in Downey, our patients are not only receiving world class rehabilitative care during their time at Rancho, but they can also find comfort knowing the deep level of concern that the surrounding community has for their overall well-being,” said Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center CEO Aries Limbaga. “We are thankful to the wonderful ladies of the Assistance League of Downey for continuing to find ways to help care for the patients at Rancho.”

The mission of the Assistance League is to serve the unique needs and challenges of their community.
