Anne Bennett laid to rest

DOWNEY – Anne Marie Bennett was a longtime resident of Downey since 1948. 

She was born in South Gate on Aug. 7, 1925 to the parents of Ernest and Katherine Koeker. Being the youngest of seven siblings, she had six sisters and one brother. 

She graduated from Bell High School in 1943. She worked for Vernon Tile Company and Adohr Farms in South Gate. Her marriages were with Frank Pilgrim, who she had Joann Pilgrim with, and Oliver Bennett, which produced Olivia Bennett. She attended Saint Raymond’s Catholic Church. 

Anne was 90 years old and passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 8 due to heart problems.  She was predeceased by her husband, Oliver Nelson Bennett.

She was laid to rest alongside her husband at Arlington Cemetery in Riverside. She is survived by her two daughters, five grandchildren: Tim, Jen, Kathy, Kirk and Lisa, and six great grandchildren: Siena, Sage, Cassidy, Ernie, Matthew and Melissa.
