DOWNEY - Alma Scheel, a grocery checker in Downey for many years, passed away peacefully June 25. She was 101.Born March 20, 1910, in Owen, Wis., the second of nine children, she married Arthur Scheel in 1927. He passed away 17 years ago. They lived in Downey 68 years, where they raised one son, Robert. In addition to Robert, she is survived by three granddaughters, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-granddaughters. A memorial service will be held July 16 at 11 a.m. at Miller-Mies Mortuary.
