Adele Carmela Vasapolli

September 18, 1932 - June 23, 2019

Adele Carmela Vasapolli, 86, of Lexington Park , Maryland passed away peacefully on June 23, 2019, with her daughter Lori by her side where she left us to be with her dear husband Joe in heaven. She was born on September 18, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of the late Eugenio Macchia and Mattia Tanzola. On January 14, 1951, at Saint Finbar’s Church in Brooklyn she married the love of her life, Joseph Vasapolli, Jr, where they went on to enjoy 62 years of marriage and raised two sons and a daughter.

A native New Yorker who never lost her accent lived many years in Maywood and Downey, California and for the last seven years she made her home in Lexington Park, Maryland where she enjoyed many wonderful hours playing Yahtzee, watching soaps and listening to country music with her daughter Lori. She also belonged to a ladies Bunco group that she enjoyed playing monthly.

She is survived by her son Joe and his wife GG, her son Gene and his wife Margie, and her daughter Lori and her husband Larry. She is also survived by her grandchildren Karrie, Joey, and Kelli and her great-grandsons Addison and Joey.

Donations in her memory can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital and to the Hospice of St Mary’s.

There will be a viewing at Miller Mies Downey Mortuary on July 17th from 4pm to 8pm. A funeral service will be held in Downey, California at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on July 18th at 10:00am with burial in Riverside National Cemetery at a date to be announced.
