The space shuttle Endeavour may fly over Downey after all.

City officials received word from Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard today that NASA plans to fly the shuttle over Downey skies Friday between 9:30-10:30 a.m., according to Councilman Mario Guerra, who posted the news on his Twitter account today.

The fly-over could be done sooner if there is fog in the L.A. Basin, said Guerra, who stressed that the schedule is subject to change.

"Staff and council have been working really hard to make this happen," Guerra said. "As of right now we have been told to look for it -- that's the plan for right now."

The space shuttle is scheduled to fly over much of the Los Angeles region Friday, including over Long Beach, Disneyland and Universal Studios.
