A two-year-old girl is in stable condition after being shot outside a Downey apartment complex Friday afternoon.

The girl was awaiting surgery as of 9:30 p.m. last night. Her 20-year-old father also was shot and is in critical condition after surgery.

Police believe the father was arguing with four men outside an apartment complex on Telegraph Road, just east of Paramount Boulevard, at about 4:30 p.m. when one of the suspects pulled a handgun and shot at the victims.

The father was struck multiple times and the girl once. The suspects ran away.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies, who assisted because the shooting occurred on the border of Downey and Pico Rivera, caught one possible suspect.
