Downey firefighters responded to the 7200 block of Coolgrove Drive at about 12:40 a.m. today after receiving a report of a residential fire.

Upon arrival, Engine 63 found heavy flames and black smoke blowing through the home's roof, said public information officer Jason Patao.

The home's residents had evacuated prior to the arrival of fire units and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
