Retired principal Dale Lostetter passes away
DOWNEY -- Dale Hedges Lostetter, 69, passed away Sept. 15.
He leaves his wife of 24 years, Debbie Lostetter; son, John Lostetter; daughter, Jamie Israel and son, Matthew Lostetter.
Dale was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on July 22, 1946, and moved to Downey at age 3. He was a strong supporter of the military and served in the Vietnam War.
He returned to work for the Downey Unified School District starting at East (Doty) Middle School as a teacher. He then went to West (Stauffer) Middle School as a vice principal, to South (Sussman) Middle School, also as a vice principal, and to Downey High as an assistant principal.
He then became principal of Columbus High School and went on to return to South (Sussman) Middle School as principal. Dale finished his career at the district office as a director.
