Letter to the Editor: Orange Estates

Dear Editor:

I was driving northbound Rives Avenue from Firestone Boulevard when I noticed something new in the center divider. It was a sign and a pillar. The sign and pillar read "Orange Estates."

Is this a way to give that area a touch of class or boundary? The City of Los Angeles is divided by sections.

I believe Downey should be known as Downey. It is already known that the wealthy Downey citizens live in the north and east areas. What are the middle and lower class areas to be called? Is this what our taxes are to be used for?

We voted for a necessary tax for police and fire. But we did not vote for raised taxes to be used for unnecessary signage.
